Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a comprehensive, preventative framework that systematically provides support to ALL students to ensure mastery of grade-level content standards. The 3 tiers of MTSS provide varying levels of support for students who are struggling to reach mastery as well as those who exceed grade-level expectations. MTSS aims to maximize student academic achievement as well as social, emotional, and behavioral needs. The framework incorporates screening, progress monitoring, and collaborative data-based decision making to help educators better understand and respond to students’ unique learning needs.
